Baseline Cardiac Risk Assessment

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. If you are not sure if you are at risk for heart disease, now is the time to find out. This screening includes measurements of total cholesterol including HDL and LDL levels, blood glucose level, triglyceride level, blood pressure and body fat; 12-lead EKG, health and lifestyle evaluation. The American Cancer Society (ACS) and Silver Cross Hospital offers an I Can Cope, an educational program for women facing breast cancer. Colorectal Cancer Screening Kit
Cost: Free
Beginning at age 50, individuals should begin regular colorectal screenings. Using the kit, you will collect a stool sample in your home and send it to the hospital’s Lab to be tested for blood. Results are mailed back for patients to share with their physician. Request a free colon cancer screening kit.

 CT Low-Dose Lung Cancer Screenings

Low-dose CT lung cancer screenings are quick, painless, non-invasive screening tests that can detect nodules or spots on the lung that might be early indicators of lung cancer. Medicare, Medicaid and many private insurances cover CT lung cancer screenings for eligible patients that meet specific criteria: 55 to 77 years old; smoked at least a pack a day for 30 years or two packs a day for 15 years; a current smoker that has quit within the past 15 years; and generally in good health. If you’re feeling numbness, tingling, or weakness in your hand, it might be carpal tunnel syndrome, caused by pressure on the median nerve, which runs the length of the arm.
