CPR/First Aid/AED Classes

Silver Cross teaches classes for infant, child and adult CPR, rescue from choking, first aid and AED training. American Heart Association certification provided.

Baseline Cardiac Risk Assessment
Silver Cross Hospital Outpatient Testing Center
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. If you are not sure if you are at risk for heart disease, now is the time to find out. This screening includes measurements of total cholesterol including HDL and LDL levels, blood glucose level, triglyceride level, blood pressure and body fat; 12-lead EKG, health and lifestyle evaluation, and a personal phone consultation with a registered cardiac nurse to review results and answer questions. Balance Enhancement & Fall Prevention Screening
The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) at Silver Cross, 1051 Essington Rd., Joliet
Cost: Free
Physical therapists will offer 15-minute screenings that include medical history, blood pressure measurements and balance assessments to identify risk factors, posture, range of motion,
strength, static and dynamic balance. Based on the results, therapists may provide recommendations on how to improve balance and reduce the risk of falls and/or a referral for treatment. Call (815) 300-6580 to schedule an appointment.

Colorectal Cancer Screening Kit
Cost: Free
Beginning at age 50, individuals should begin regular colorectal screenings. Using the kit, you will collect a stool sample in your home and send it to the hospital’s Lab to be tested for blood. Results are mailed back for patients to share with their physician. Request a free colon cancer screening kit.
