Silver Cross Hospital Receives Three Women’s Choice Awards®

Silver Cross Hospital recently received three 2017  recognitions from the Women’s Choice Award for:

  •  America’s Best Bariatric Surgery
  • America’s Best Obstetrics
  • and America’s Best Heart Care.

The Women’s Choice Award, a national referral source for women, is the only recognition that identifies the country’s best healthcare institutions based on robust criteria that considers female patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.

“Receiving these three distinguished honors from the Women’s Choice Awards is a testament to the dedication of the hospital’s doctors, nurses, employees and volunteers,” said Paul Pawlak, President and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital. “We work together to constantly measure, review and improve our performance to make Silver Cross an exceptional place to receive care.”

The Women’s Choice Award has identified America’s Best Hospitals across our nation to help women make informed healthcare choices. Being named and recognized as a hospital of choice among women is an honorable achievement as it represents the strongest and most important consumer message in today’s healthcare marketplace. Considering that women account for 90% of all healthcare decisions for her and her family, being a hospital of choice women trust is commendable.

America’s Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery

SCH_Thompson_8p33x10p88-1 copyHospitals earning the 2017 America’s Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery Award have met the Comprehensive Center standards of The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). A study in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons has shown that patients who have undergone weight-loss operations at Comprehensive Centers have had fewer postoperative complications, and lower costs are reported at accredited bariatric surgical centers compared with non-accredited centers. Additionally, those awarded hospitals have received a patient recommendation rating above the national average on the HCAHPS survey by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

As Will County’s only MBSAQIP accredited center – Comprehensive and Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery, Silver Cross Hospital’s distinguished program includes BMI Surgery’s renowned bariatric surgeon, who perform laparoscopic gastric bypass including the popular LAP-BAND®, REALIZE® Gastric Banding System, Revisional Bariatric Surgery, ReShape™ Gastric Balloon Placement, and the Gastric Sleeve at Silver Cross Hospital. To learn more, click here and register to attend a free informational session.

America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics
photo14The America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics scoring process is unique in that it is the only national list that is evidence-based and focuses on female patient satisfaction. Awarded hospitals – including Silver Cross, ranked above the national average for patient recommendations, as indicated by the data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys. Additional considerations included: having a NICU on-site, low rates of early elective deliveries (between 0-1%) as well as ranking above the national average for patient safety.

Nearly half of all babies born in Will County are delivered at Silver Cross Hospital. With  cutting-edge medical technology and spa-like amenities, Silver Cross makes the birthing experience all the more memorable.   The Birthing Center at the New Lenox Hospital has 12 luxurious birthing suites designed for labor, delivery and recovery so parents can have the convenience of staying in the same room through recovery followed by a stay in one of 30 private mother-baby suites.  And for deliveries requiring surgery, there are two complete cesarean suites. Silver Cross’ Nursery is designated as a Level 2 extended care and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital neonatologists and pediatric hospitalists are onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  If needed, Lurie Children’s pediatric cardiologists are available to analyze a baby’s echocardiogram in real time through a video linkage with Silver Cross.
