Dr. Corinne Nawrocki: The New Leading Lady

Nawrocki, CorinneCorinne Nawrocki, D.O. has worn many important hats over the years – wife, mother, caregiver, teacher, and healer. Last month, she donned a stylish new headpiece as Silver Cross Hospital’s newest Chief of Staff. Dr. Nawrocki is the first female to serve in this key medical staff leadership position in Silver Cross’ 120 year history.

Over the next two years, Dr. Nawrocki will represent the Silver Cross Medical Staff – now more than 800 members strong, working side by side with the Hospital’s leadership team, employees, volunteers and her physician colleagues to deliver the very best care in the safest manner by the friendliest people.

“I have always loved caring for my patients at Silver Cross Hospital,” said Dr. Nawrocki. “There is a spirit of collegiality here that is just not present at other facilities. Administrators, physicians, nurses, and all the behind the scenes caregivers are always ready and available to provide assistance when a need arises.”

Always a Caregiver

While running a successful children’s day care out of her home in the early 1990’s Corinne decided to go back to Benedictine University in Lisle to study pre-med. She had already received her master’s degree in Business Administration from there in 1984.

With two small children at home and a husband who supported her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor, Corinne earned her medical degree in 1997 from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Downers Grove. She completed both her family practice internship and residency at Olympia Fields Chicago Osteopathic Hospital. Dr. Nawrocki joined Midwest Physicians Group in 2000 before opening her own medical practice with Dr. Rick Singh in Joliet in 2007. Since then, their practice has grown with the addition of four family practice physicians and a beautiful new office on the Silver Cross Hospital campus in New Lenox. Together, C & R Medical Group cares for more than 16,000 patients every year.

Healer, Mentor, and Champion for Women’s Care

Dr. Nawrocki believes that her patients, staff, and family are the most important people in the world, and she treats them that way. She has a special interest in caring for older adults and will not rest until she has healed whatever ails them. This includes going out of her way to make sure that patients are cared for quickly and with professionalism and respect. In fact, she has been recognized time and time again as one of Silver Cross Hospital’s “Top Docs” for patient satisfaction.

“We are fortunate that knowledgeable and concerned physicians like Dr. Nawrocki continue to make Silver Cross a better place to receive care,” said Paul Pawlak, President and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital. “Under her leadership, patients will have access to new treatments and therapies delivered by medical professionals with the utmost concern for patient safety.”

“As Chief, I am committed to providing our physicians with all the support, education, and technology they need in order to care for their patients in the safest, most medically sound, and pleasant environment possible,” said Dr. Nawrocki. “I want them to be mindful of the importance of clear and timely communication be that through electronic medical records, phone calls, text messages, or face to face, and how clear and consistent communication will ensure better care and experiences for our patients.”

A charismatic leader with a lifelong passion for learning, Dr. Nawrocki is often called upon to serve as a mentor for other doctors and is a preceptor at Midwestern University. Over the years, she has served on several Silver Cross Hospital committees including utilization, bundled care, physician service improvement, credentials, and improving operational performance. As Chief of Staff, she serves on the Silver Hospital Board of Directors and its quality and cost effectiveness and finance committees. She also continues to be a champion for the Hospital’s I Matter program, which rewards women for getting their annual breast and heart screenings.

Dr. Nawrocki is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Practitioners, American College of Physician Executives, and Silver Cross Health Connection.

When not treating patients and improving the care at Silver Cross Hospital, she is a season ticket holder at Chicago’s Lyric Opera.  And she enjoys musical theater, gardening and vacationing in Disneyworld.
